Canaletto

Giovanni Antonio Canal, known by his illustrious moniker Canaletto, was a prominent Venetian painter of the 18th century who specialized in vedute, or panoramic views of cityscapes, particularly those of Venice. Born on October 18, 1697, and passing away on April 19, 1768, he left an indelible mark on European art with his meticulous attention to detail, skillful use of perspective, and atmospheric rendering of light. Canaletto's artistic journey began under the tutelage of his father Bernardo Canal, also a theatrical scene painter, which profoundly influenced his early work.
