Reijer Stolk

Reijer Johan Antonie Stolk, a multifaceted artist, excelled in graphic design, painting, sculpture, and invention. Born on the island of Java, Stolk relocated from East Java to the Netherlands during his early childhood, between the ages of three and twelve. His artistic journey began in 1910 when he enrolled at the Applied Arts School in Haarlem. A pivotal moment in his artistic development occurred in 1930, when he traveled to the Gold Coast and Nigeria to study patterns found on clothing fabrics. This expedition profoundly influenced his subsequent artistic productions.
